ST. PETERSBURG -- Under a beautiful blue sky, thousands of guests are enjoying the sights, sounds and tastes of the Discover Native America Pow Wow, presented by the Seminole Tribe of Florida at Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Fla.
They've watched the grand entry, headed by the Tribal Color Guard open the dancing competition in which dancers from around the nation show off steps that date back generations. They dance to the hypnotic rhythm of the ageless drums.
While not enjoying the dance display, guests are also enjoying the performers that are going at two stages. Some of the performers have included the Aztec Fire Dancers, Buddy Big Mountain, Chief Jim Billie, Sonny Nevaquaya, Jameson Masecki, Inca Son and Keith Secola and the Wild Indian Band.
Food, arts and crafts and world famous artists showing how they create their work are also part of the fun - which is presented free of charge.
To stay abreast of the activities, visit this site for continual updates and images, as the Seminole Tribe's Communications Department is presenting the first "Cyber Pow Wow," in which digital images are being used to convey the action.
To get a complete report - after the event - visit the Tribe's website at www.seminoletribe.com, or better yet, purchase a subscription to the Seminole Tribune, the official newspaper of the Seminole Tribe of Florida.
