Service to the Tribe with Pride
The Housing Department provides basic home repair services for primary residences on tribal reservation and surrounding off –reservation communities and homes. These basic repair services are summarized below.
Electrical
Repairs to house electrical system including wiring, outlets, and fixtures
Plumbing
Repairs to a house plumbing system, including leaking pipes, clogs, plumbing fixtures and other issues related to the house water, sewer, or septic systems.
Air Conditioning/Appliances
Repairs to the air conditioning unit, its connections and ventilation system into the house, as well as breakdown of appliances such as refrigerators, stoves, clothes washer and dryers, and dishwashers.
Safety
Repairs to a house that removes a threat to the occupants of a house.
Elder Assistance
Repairs, appliance purchase, renovations, and elder accessibility changes to the house, as well as other assistance especially important to Tribal Elders.
Home Structure Insurance
All homes located on Tribal Reservations are insured by the Housing Department by the direction of Tribal Council under Amerind Insurance
Residential Health & Safety Program
The RHSP was developed by Tribal Council as a hurricane preparedness effort. Through this program, hurricane shutters or impact windows and generators are installed on reservation homes. Beginning with the Elders and those Members with special needs, the goal is to outfit all homes on tribal reservations.

Planning & Development
- Renovation
Construction to or expansion of an existing home to bring the home that is not in disrepair or substandard and meets the tribal building code, which requires technical analysis, planning, budgeting, and building permitting. - Rehabilitation
Construction to or expansion of an existing home to bring the home up to safety, quality and code standards, which requires technical analysis, planning, budgeting, and building permits. - Replacement
Replacement of an existing home, where rehabilitation or renovation is not financially feasible, to bring the home up to safety, quality and code standards, which requires technical analysis, planning, budgeting and building permitting. - New Construction
Construction if a new home at a location where a home did not exist before, which requires technical analysis, planning, budgeting and building permitting.

Loans designed by congress to create a federal program specifically designed to address the lack of money available to Native Americans to build on Indian country. This program is only made available to Native Americans throughout the continental United States.
