Brighton Forestry Cattle Dip Vat was constructed during the federally mandated cattle fever tick eradication program.  Cattle were corralled and run through a concrete vat containing a solution of Arsenic, DDT, and other organochloropesticides.  The program was terminated in the late 1960s due to when it was believed the fever tick was eradicated.  These structures remained in place where the toxic solution impacted both soil and ground water.
