Submitted by Lola Juarez

YBOR CITY, FL — The department of Elder Affairs hosted a small birthday bash for the Tampa seniors whose birthdays fall in the month of October. The four celebrating birthdays were: Jane Osceola, Annie Henry, Maggie Garcia and Peggy Cubis.

The birthday girls dined at Columbia Restaurant in Ybor City. Celebrating with the seniors were: Nancy Frank, Linda Henry, Susie Doctor, Kim Cartagena from Broadcasting. They also recorded the celebration and provided the Elder’s department with a copy for the seniors to enjoy while doing arts and crafts or ceramics in the office.

Also joining us was Jackie Smith, Tampa liaison secretary, Jessica Swafford, assistant coordinator and Lola Juarez, project coordinator for the Tampa department of Elder Affairs.

The ladies made their meal selections and while waiting for their meals exchanged birthday gifts. After their meal all our birthday girls were treated to a delicious flan as their cake with a candle for their birthday wishes.

The seniors took this opportunity to present Lola Juarez with a plaque. They wanted to honor her for all her support and dedication to the Tampa community for the past two years.
