Environmental Resource Management

The incumbent in this position is responsible for planning, managing and coordinating wildland fire management program for the Seminole Tribe of Florida’s Environmental Resources Department on all of its tribal lands. The individual oversees all fire suppression, detection and prevention activities. The incumbent develops wildland fire management plans and corresponding training, and plans and coordinates fire resource mobilization plans in adherence to cooperative agreements concerning wildfire management. Bachelor’s Degree in Biological Sciences, Agriculture, Natural Resource Management or related field is required. A minimum of three years (3) of specialized Wildland fire management experience reviewing and evaluating fire management plans for ecological soundness and technical adequacy; and conducting field inspections before and after prescribed or Wildland fires is required. Prior knowledge of scientific methodologies and techniques for forestry activities is required. Certification as Task Force Leader (TFLD), Incident Commander Type 3 (ICT3), and Prescribed Fire Burn Boss, Type 2 (RXB2) are required. Must possess a valid State of Florida Class “D” Driver’s License. Must demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must demonstrate experience utilizing Microsoft software packages. Must have the ability to travel and work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays.
